Private Landlords to be hit with more costs and potential fines.

The Government has announced they will soon be launching a new Housing Complaints Resolution Service.

The scheme is to offer protection and redress for the entire housing market, from new build buyers, to home sellers and tenants.

Although announced, no further details of the scheme have been issued. The press release from Communities Secretary James Brokenshire threatens Landlords with a fine of up to £5,000 if they don’t register.

We welcome public protection, but this seems to be presented as another attack on Private Landlords.

Perhaps some consideration could also be given to making the process of recovering unpaid rent and property damages easier and less costly.
